AN
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH SHELLY
SHELLYWOOD™
is released in Brisbane and Melbourne. How does it feel
being on billboards everywhere, Shelly?
Awesome,
it gives me vertigo.
What's
the public response been like?
We've
been inundated with booking enquiries.
In
a Time
Magazine interview you said that playing Shelly in SHELLYWOOD™
is your most
demanding role yet. Why?
It made a good headline.
Yes, but why was it your most demanding
role?
Oh. I had to get inside the mind of the character, imagine what
it was like to be me.
Do you use method acting?
No, ask my friends, I'm totally unmethodical.
Why
do all the
characters in the movie look remarkably similar?
Any resemblance is purely coincidental.
How
did you feel when Nicole Kidman was short listed for the role of
Shelly?
She
was only short listed. I got the role.
Is
Shellywood a true story?
Yes, it's all true.
Is it hard to separate your screen
life from real life?
Not really, because much of my everyday life appears on screen.
So,
how do you actually separate the two?
Usually I just switch off.
Without
giving the story away, can you describe the love-triangle in the
film?
It
was an intense moment when I
was emotionally and physically torn between a love-marriage partner
and an arranged marriage partner.
Who
are you dating at present?
Ha ha. That's personal.
Would
you have an arranged marriage or love-marriage?
I haven't decided yet. Na hi.
Where
did you learn to speak Hindlish?
I studied online at TAFE and became affluent. I also practice on
my mobile phone. Pyarr
ishq aur mobile hai.
What are your plans for future?
There are rumours about SHELLYWOOD™
2,
but they're just rumours at the moment. Right
now I'm working on the live stage version of SHELLYWOOD™
so the script has to be adapted for a stadium.
If
you had one wish what would it be?
That
everyone could be on a billboard with me.
Do
you believe in the after-life?
I'd
like to come back as a website.
Why,
Shelly?
I
like all the links and a home page. I feel so scattered at the moment.
We've heard you had to get a tattoo
for the film. Where is it?
Sorry, that's personal too.
